TEN Group 2011-2012 (Series 08)

In the Eighth series of TEN, London vists included Bankside, Lambeth, Tottenham and Kings Cross.  A symposim was held at The Buiding Centre at Store Street where representatives from Copenhagen Spoke to local practisioners on 'What London can learn from Scandinavia'.  The European study tour focussed on Helsinki and Stockholm.   Details of the study tour are outlined in the slideshow below.  Members of Series 08 were:

Design Progress and Model Making

The design has really come along in the last month. We started making a large scale 1:20 physical model using cardboard we found in the rooms upstairs in the bakery. This has allowed the young people to develop their designs and help everyone involved visualise the design in 3D. The teams have also been using computer modelling to quickly make images of the rooms for each of the clients for the flats.

Sustainable Urban Neighbourhoods Network (SUNN) report launch

The final reports from the Sustainable Urban Neighbourhoods Network were launched at the RICS to a packed audience on Tuesday 21 February, and the recommendations are being well received.

You can obtain both the full research report and the shorter Solutions paper, which is aimed at local authorities,  by going into Nicholas Falk’s blog.

There is a good chance that there will be further events, so watch this space.

URBED win award for Brentford Lock West Masterplan

Last night URBED won a 2012 Urban Design Award.

URBED were joint winners in the Practice category for our work on Brentford Lock West, please see the project entry for more information, David attended the evening to collect the award. A big thanks to Johannes Tovatts, Klas Tham, Tibbalds and Stockleys who worked so hard on the project!
