SUNN 2010 Meetings and Interim Report

SUNN’s regular day-long field meetings involved discussions and a guided walk around the site of the meeting.  By the conclusion of 2010 meetings had been held in Cambridge (Orchard Park) 15 March 2010, Solihull (Dickens Heath) 12 April 2010, Newcastle (Walker Riverside) 21 June 2010 and Telford (Ironstone Lawley and Lightmoor) 21 October 2010.  Each of these meetings produced a report based on the day’s events and conclusions drawn (downloadable from this blog).

The Design Process

In order to integrate the stages of work, as set out by RIBA with the consultation activities this project is founded on, we have come up with a corresponding workshop timetable.

Stoke Town Consultation Report

Public consultation is a key part of all URBEDs work and during the masterplanning process there have been several specific consultations held. This report outlines the findings of all consultation activities carried out over the project. This report can be downloaded here.

TEN Group 2010-2011 (Series 07)

In the seveth series of TEN London visits included Newham, Westfield and South Acton.  The Europen Study Tour focussed on Copenhagen and Malmo which is summed up in the slide show below.  TEN Group members for 2010 included:

Meeting the Clients

The groups of young people met with the the two clients to understand their needs. Bob's home is the last house left on a row of tinned up houses which dominate Anfield, Kealey is a youth worker at the BCC youth centre and currently lives in a flat on Anfield Road. The young people came up with questions and interviewed Bob and Kealey about what kind of home they would like.

Creating a Brief

The workshop at Saint Francis of Assisi today focussed on what the students would like to see happening as part of the project.

Stoke Town Public Consultation

Options for the town have been drawn up following the outcomes of the roundtable workshop and baseline ayalysis. These options can be seen in downloads. These options were put out to a public consultation on a very wintery few days in early December.

Stoke Town Round Table Consultation

The consultation process was initiated by a roundtable workshop, where key stakeholders were invited to discuss the current key issues and opportunities for Stoke Town and the Spode Works.
The consultation was held on the evening of Tuesday 12th October 2010 at the Kings Hall in Stoke Town. The event was well attended with over 80 attendees, who were split into roundtable groups of approximately 10, each with a facilitator from the
consultant team.

Workplace Cycle Challenge

Tuesday 8th June, 2010

The URBED office (home to more than one cycle fanatic) has signed up to be part of the Greater Manchester Workplace Cycle Challenge.

"The Workplace Cycle Challenge is a fun and free workplace based challenge that encourages people to give cycling a go!

"Organisations across Greater Manchester are competing from Monday 7 to Sunday 27 June 2010 to see who can get the most staff to ride a bike for 10 minutes or more."
