First Consultation Workshop - Thank you

Thank you to all those who attended the workshop on Wednesday 13th March. 37 local residents, businesses and stakeholders participated at the event and shared some great ideas about Garston.

NBW: Come and see the proposals!

We would like to take the opportunity to present to you the updated masterplan for the area, which incorporate the comments made by the community and local residents during previous consultation events. These proposals will be submitted as an Outline Planning Application to Bradford Council in early summer 2013. You can view the final proposals by using the links to the right. First Consultation Workshop Announced

You are invited to attend our first consultation session on Wednesday 13th March 2013 at Garston Urban Village Hall.

We will be holding a workshop between 5 - 7pm to introduce the team and give participants a chance to discuss what Garston is like today and what it should be like in the future. We hope to see local residents, stakeholders, businesses and community groups in attendance, please spread the word!

Oxford Futures

On 17 January 2013 at the Oxford Futures seminar organised by the Oxford Civic Society, with Oxford City Council and URBED, Nicholas Falk presented the case for smarter growth.  Further events including a symposium with the Academy of Urbanism and RSA in September at Oxford Brookes University, will continue to discuss the growth of Oxford.  To find out more about the conference visit the Oxford Civic Society website and read the Visions March 2013 newsletter by following the link here

Dalston; Fifth meeting of series nine of TEN

The TEN Group’s fifth meeting of series nine, on Friday 8th February 2013, focussed on the value that investment in the public realm can play in regenerating a poor area, and how to link public and private investment. We were fortunate to walk around Dalston with Patrick Hammill, former Director of Urban Renewal at Levitt Bernstein,  who have been involved with a number of major projects such as the new housing at Holly Street, and in whose offices we met.

Wasn't Built In A Day - Video

Which of course it wasn’t, at least not quite. The task of building, let alone rebuilding the whole of Manchester in plasticine in 12 hours was always going to be a challenge even with the help of more than 40 architecture students from Manchester School of Architecture. However we did build a huge model and the process did reveal some truths about how cities are built through collaborative action and how futile it is to pretend that any one person can control the process.
