URBED have signed an open letter to the Chancellor urging him to reconsider the scrapping of the zero carbon homes policy. This was arranged by the UK Green Building Council and supported by over 200 other organisations.

We've been gearing up as an industry to meet this target for over a decade. It may not have been perfect, but it was the best tool we had to provide a framework for improving the standard of the homes we build. That it is not being replaced with anything at all to give similar guidance is a significant concern. It creates huge uncertainty, when what we really need is a clear frame of reference to help us reduce carbon emissions quickly.
