David Rudlin to launch Sheffield Civic Trust's "Year of Housing"

Wednesday 20th May, 2015

How can Sheffield provide the homes we need? Sheffield Civic Trust are launching a city-wide debate to discuss the future of housing in Sheffield.
Politicians of all persuasions have called for a major house-building programme to meet rising demand. But what are the specific ways that Sheffield should tackle these issues? Are new homes the main solution? Where should new homes be built in our city? How can we ensure that they are sustainable and meet people’s needs? Will they be affordable? Who will build them?

For this first event, the Trust are delighted to welcome David Rudlin, director of URBED and the winner of the ‘Garden Cities’ 2014 Wolfson Economic Prize. Alongside his practice in planning and urbanism, David has authored a number of research reports in the field of housing, including '21st Century Homes' for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

The keynote by David Rudlin will be followed by an open discussion chaired by the Trustees.
Programme:

6.30pm - Keynote followed by Q+A and invited responses
8.00 pm - Event closes.
