Guardian series on the housing crisis

Monday 9th May, 2016

As part of the Guardian's series on the Housing Crisis, a letter from URBED founding director Nicholas Falk, was published on Thursday 5th May. You can see Nicholas' full letter via the link on the right.

In it he suggests that the threat to our countryside from new housing is made worse by a failure to concentrate new development around key transport nodes. Echoing the sentiments of our Wolfson prize winning essay, Nicholas calls for a commission to allocate the land for new garden cities, rather than relying on ad hoc exceptions.

Jane's Walk - Liverpool

Thursday 28th April, 2016

Marianne will be leading a Jane's Walk on Saturday 7th May in Liverpool exploring the Granby 4 Streets. Jane’s Walks are free, locally organized walking tours, in which people get together to explore, talk about and celebrate their neighbourhoods. Where more traditional tours are a bit like walking lectures, a Jane’s Walk is more of a walking conversation. Leaders share their knowledge, but also encourage discussion and participation among the walkers.

Time lapse video of 400 Caledonian Road

Tuesday 9th February, 2016

We've been involved with igloo's project at 400 Caledonian Road since the beginning, assessing the scheme against igloo's footprint policy and more recently developing home user guides for the new residents.

This time lapse video shows the site as it was, and now at completion. This was a challenging site consisting of delapidated buildings to the rear and a Victorian house in need of renovation fronting Caledonian Road. Added to this the team were dealing with the constraints associated with building over the channel tunnel and next to the overground line.
