Collaborative PhD Opportunity: Retrofitting Neighbourhoods
Friday 27th December, 2019
We are currently recruiting a candidate for a funded collaborative PhD project with Manchester School of Architecture entitled "Retrofitting Neighbourhoods: Exploring approaches to sustinable residential retrofit at an urban scale".
The aim of this project is to look at how terraced neighbourhoods can be made fit for the 21st Century by improving the performance of buildings and urban systems. This will be an opportunity to investigate the social, cultural and economic aspects of retrofit alongside the technological issues, all at a neighbourhood scale. We're interested in how retrofit can be scaled up and what impact this might have on existing urban systems and services.
The successful candidate will be based dually at the URBED office in Manchester and at Manchester School of Architecture. This is an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of research with MSA whilst being embedded in real world practice at URBED.
