Somerleyton Road footprint workshop

igloo are acting as development managers for the Somerleyton Road project (a scheme being brought forward by Lambeth Council, Ovalhouse theatre and Brixton Green), which although not an igloo Regeneration Fund project, is using footprint® principles to guide the design. In April we held a footprint® workshop at no.6 Somerleyton Road with the design team, including masterplanner and architect Metropolitan Workshop and block architects Zac Monroe, Foster Wilson, Mae and Haworth Tomkins.

URBED, along with the finalists for last year's Wolfson Economics Prize, are urging politicians to take the politics out of settlements. They argue that a Royal Commision should decide in an impartial way where new settlements should be located, and new development bodies should have the power to culsorarily purchase the necessary land.

URBED at Green Sky Thinking

URBED's Marianne Heaslip will be speaking at an InnovateUK event as part of Green Sky Thinking in London on 21 April 2015. The event will provide the opportunity to share findings - both good and bad - from the recently completed InnovateUK (formerly TSB) Building Performance Evaluation programme. This investigated the actual performance of completed buildings to discover whether design stage low energy and environmental ambitions were met in reality, and what the reasons might be for any 'performance gap'.
