In 2009/10 URBED ran a series of urban design masterclasses for Urban Design London. These classes were part of a wider set of design and planning skills that UDL were offering the London Planning officers. The masterclasses were aimed at planning officers who had some knowledge of a specialist area but needed to develop further knowledge on how to tackle the issues they face in their day-to-day professions.
Over the course of several months we ran 7 different classes on topics including; Parking and Cars, Conservation areas, Infill sites and Streetscapes. Each class included 2 presentations from key speakers on the subject and then a workshop session which aimed at putting some of the technical knowledge into practice.
