Nicholas Falk addressed a fringe meeting of the LGA conference in Harrogate on July 7th, where he went through the findings of research commisioned by LGA and SIGOMA. A summary report is available free, and the final report and literature review is available from the LGA.

The final report will be launched at the meeting of the LGAs Urban Commission on July 25th. The report recommends greater collaboration between local authorities, regional agencies and central government to develop the vision, by promoting thriving networks of centres, joined up planning, culture change. It calls for finding new roles for town centres and living places, learning communities, ladders of opportunity and safer streets. Finally it suggests how to make things happen using charters and concordats, integrated transport interchanges and smarter local finance. For more information please contact Nicholas Falk in our London office.
