URBED were commissioned by Conwy County Borough Council and the Welsh Assembly to produce a masterplan for the Llandudno Junction area. The masterplan explored the implications on the local economy of the new planned Welsh Assembly government building.
Along with EKOS and WSP the masterplan analyses the current and future role and function of the town in terms of the economy, housing, community facilities and transport. Initially a baseline study and stakeholder workshops were undertaken to determine what the needs of the area are and to identify specific issues for the masterplan to address and potential sites and areas for development.
The final plan identified specific key sites for development that could be brought forward over a period of time meeting the demands that would be placed on the town in light of the relocation of the Welsh Assembly.
