In the summer of 2011 URBED were commissioned by AGMA (Association of Greater Manchester Authorities) to produce a housing retrofit study for the whole of the Greater Manchester region. The aim of the study was to obtain an understanding of the condition of GM's housing stock and the varying factors that have to be identified in order to develop a retrofit programme to bring those residential properties up to the governments energy efficiency standards. The study highlighted what the gaps in information were across the GM housing stock and what would have to be identified to gain a better understanding of the number of properties that would have to undergo varying retrofit procedures; such as internal or external retrofitting.

The study has been subject to consultation by a select stakeholder group in Manchester's housing community. For more information please see Manchester is my Planet.
