The Academy of Urbanism hold an annual congress in a city in the UK to discuss pressing issues relating to towns, cities and development. In 2010 Manchester was selected to hold the congress and with URBED having a strong relationship with the AoU members of the URBED team assisted in the organising of the event.
Venues were chosen for the congress and nominations dinner to show of Manchester wonderful history and culture. The 2010 congress theme was 'Shrinking Cities' and so all the talks and debates related to this theme, along with certain talks about how Manchester and the North West had dealt with these issues.
The 2 day congress was brought to a close by the AoU nominations dinner in the spectacular surroundings of Gorton Monastery in East Manchester, where a fun evening was had by all!
