We completed a feasibility study for Contact Theatre which supported their application for Stage 1 funding from the Arts Council England. This included various changes to the building in order to increase the opportunities for young people, make it more economically and environmentally sustainable, and make it more accessible in the widest sense. Contact decided to work with URBED because of our commitment to engaging users in design, and our knowledge of sustainable buildings. As young people are core to everything Contact does, they also wanted young people to be involved in the design process. As part of the project URBED engaged with a group of 2nd year and M.Arch students from Manchester School of Architecture to explore possible futures for the theatre.
