Following successful completion of the ‘Burton Town Regeneration Strategy’ in 2018, URBED were re-commissioned in 2020 by East Staffordshire Borough Council and Cushman & Wakefield to facilitate stakeholder engagement and public consultation for the ‘Burton Town Investment Plan’. The Town Investment Plan seeks to provide a clear vision for building on Burton’s unique strengths to transform its economic growth prospects, and aims to generate a mix of social, economic and environmental benefits for both local residents and the wider region.

URBED created visually engaging banners and flyers, outlining the potential proposed interventions for Burton upon Trent. URBED also produced and monitored a digital questionnaire on Survey Monkey, whilst a printed version of the questionnaire was made publicly available in the shopping centre. 900 individuals responded, recording over 1250 comments.

Consultation was undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic, and two virtual workshops were held at different times of the evening to accommodate more focussed discussion with key Burton stakeholders. These sessions were run via Zoom, and utilised Break-out rooms and Miro Boards for ‘roundtable’ engagement, documenting Hopes and Fears and preference for the various proposals.

URBED analysed feedback patterns and trends, and collated responses into a coherent report for submission as part of the TIP funding bid.

Client feedback: “We have worked with URBED before and were not disappointed (or surprised) with the quality of the work and support they provided. We gave a very short window for the project to be started, planned, delivered and reviewed, but URBED came up trumps.”
