Reforming Land Value Capture

When a planning permission is bestowed, wealth is often created; the value of land with planning permission is often significantly higher than land without. In aggregate terms this increase in land value is enormous. Are there ways to use this land value more transparently and efficiently to benefit our towns and cities?

On 16th January 2020 LSE London invited 30 stakeholders to take part in a roundtable discussion exploring this question. The event was held to consider proposals for land value capture set out by Dr Nicholas Falk of the URBED Trust and Prof Paul Cheshire.
