Homebaked and 2up2down in the Echo
Thursday 20th September, 2012
Liverpool biennial launched last week and with it comes more articles on the Anfield based bakery and retrofit project URBED has been involved in.
In the Echo's article Jeanne van Heeswijk, the artist who began the project, is quoted: “People were hesitant, which I think is normal,” she admits of the initial reaction to the project two and a haf years ago. “There are a lot of reasons for that. People think it’s an art project that will come and go. It took a while for them to understand – this isn’t going, it’s staying. They’ve seen so many promises and proposals of thing that will change things but that were not delivered. I understand their scepticism. A lot of them are tired of promises and beautiful stories.”
