Ovidija Zemaityte

Ovidija joined URBED in October 2021 as an Urban Designer and Part II Architectural Assistant after graduating from Manchester School of Architecture with a Master of Architecture with Distinction.

During this time, she was part of the Advanced Practice Atelier undertaking a holistic approach to design and sustainability, whilst engaging with specialist consultants and local community groups, particularly during a live project for ‘A Future Didsbury’ Masterplan. Notably, the proposal was chosen as the favourite on several occasions at the Manchester City Library Exhibition for the ways in which it dealt with vehicle movement, street parking and provided many sociable green spaces.

Her thesis project ‘Re-Imagining The Lower Medlock Valley’ Masterplan aimed to bring the valley back to life through the addition of housing and a variety of functions and recreational public spaces. The proposal focused to create environments that would encourage interaction and community integration; restore the site’s existing green spaces and habitats and encourage biodiversity; and design with sustainability through the use of Modern Methods of Construction, Passive House principles and SuDS.

Ovidija has gained prior experience working at several architectural practices both in Manchester and Amsterdam where she got involved in a variety of projects and competitions, ranging from extensions and renovations to masterplanning projects.

In her free time, Ovidija likes to meditate, do yoga, and spend time exploring the outdoors.
