Lucy Wallwork

Lucy joins URBED as an intern while studying for her Masters course in Urban Planning at the University of Manchester. She recently returned to Manchester after being away for ten years, and is re-discovering a much-changed city.

After living in the South Caucasus for the last two years, she is particularly interested in the urban form of post-socialist cities and how they are adapting to a new era – she is planning to follow this up in a dissertation on fledgling attempts to integrate land use and transport in the inner cities of Moscow and Baku.

Closer to home, she is watching carefully as the Salford area where she grew up is being transformed by regeneration initiatives, with all the hopes and tensions it brings in its wake.
