Kat will join URBED in January 2019 as an Urban Designer and Part-2 Architectural Assistant.  Prior to URBED she worked at Barton Willmore where she was involved in urban design and masterplanning projects for both public and private sector clients. Before this, she worked at the Manchester School of Architecture on an action research project where she undertook Age Friendly research on four neighbourhoods in Manchester and helped to set up Age Friendly neighbourhood partnerships, boards and projects with local older residents and institutional partners.

Kat graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2015 with a Masters in Architecture and Town & Regional Planning.  During her studies, she developed an interest in participatory design methodologies and developing methods for capacity building and neighbourhood planning.  She brings this interest into her work as a volunteer Associate for Architecture Sans Frontières-UK (ASF-UK), a not for profit organisation which works to influence the teaching and practice of architecture towards more social and environmentally sustainable objectives.  With ASF-UK, she has helped to facilitate two international workshops in Cape Town, exploring tools and tactics for community-led urban development and socially responsive affordable rental housing development processes.
