Joren Heise

Joren joined URBED in October 2017 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant and Urban Designer after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a dual Masters degree in Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

He received commendations for his thesis project ‘Aegir Meadows’ and in Environment & Technology. The project focussed on integration between urban and rural; buildings and nature; inside and outside. The concept was based on a different approach by seeing the landscape as an agent of change. Using storm- and floodwater management, it emphasised water-sensitive design, to create spaces of delight and bring people into direct contact with nature.

Joren is originally from the Netherlands, but having travelled to various countries and lived in Asia for several years, gave him the opportunity to encounter other cultures. This has influenced his interests in architecture and landscape design.

Prior to his masters degree, Joren worked at d-raw associates, an architectural and creative design collective in London. He was involved in local as well as international architecture and interior design projects.
