Jonathan Brown

Jonathan joined URBED from GVA Grimley’s planning and regeneration team in Manchester. Following his first degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, Jonathan completed his post-graduate studies in June 2000, graduating with Distinction from the University of Liverpool where he studied successfully for his Masters degree at the Department of Civic Design.

Working first for a Manchester based architecture practice and then for EDAW, he became a fully Chartered Town Planner in 2004, he specialises in Regeneration, Urban Design and Consultation.

His experience covers strategy and project development, spatial analysis and consultation, in urban regeneration areas across the North of England, including the Merseyside and South Yorkshire Objective One programme areas, the North East and Greater Manchester, and multi-disciplinary project work in strategic masterplanning.

Jonathan is expert at liaison with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse organisations and interests across the community, public and private sectors. A deep understanding of the imperatives of sustainability, local capacity building and the connections between the activities of those involved in regeneration and development are key principles of Jonathan’s work.
Jonathan has been working extensively on the consultation and preparation of regeneration policy, area masterplans and urban design guidance.
