Hafsa Mekki

Hafsa graduated with a BA Hons in Linguistics at the University of Salford and went on to teach in Jakarta, Liverpool and Manchester. She took a particular interest in developing and redesigning teaching materials to link them to current affairs. For the past 3 years she has worked as a Procurement Officer in a UK based web hosting company and has started studying for her Diploma in Supply Management and Procurement.

Alongside her job Hafsa is involved in a number of community projects. She is a trustee and advisor for Heart & Parcel, a charity that works with migrant women helping them to integrate into society and improve their English language skills. She is also a volunteer Outreach Ambassador for parkrun where she locates new parkrun locations in areas of social deprivation and works with local communities to try and get more people involved in becoming more active. Hafsa has recently started a community litter picking group called “Moss Side Litter Pickers” whose main aim is to make Moss Side litter free by the end of 2020 and to encourage more community interaction.
